Synopsis: A love triangle based on real events between artist AJ Munnings (Dominic Cooper) who is running a painting school in Cornwall, his pupil Florence Carter-Wood (Emily Browning) and his friend Gilbert Evans (Dan Stevens)
Stan's thoughts: Essentially this is a story about a woman who plumps for the wrong man. She falls for the cad rather than the nice bloke and soon realises her mistake. It was enjoyable enough but I don't think it ever really adequately explores the complexities of a relationship like this. I've known woman who time after time fall for the bad boy who treats them like dirt but I didn't quite believe in Florence's motives.
Still a sad and occasionally moving piece and good to see Dan Stevens stretching his acting wings, post Downton, by playing, er, a nice posh bloke.
