I've been scouring the interweb on and off for months looking for news about Julie Taymor's latest film The Tempest which finished filming last January.
I'd like to say my obsession stems from my studying the Shakespeare play at A-Level but the truth is I'm a massive Ben Whishaw fan and it's the only thing on screen he's likely to appear in this year (he's playing Ariel). If indeed it is released this year.
Up until today the best clue I'd managed to find was this article which seems to indicate the film will have its premier at one of the Autumn film festivals.
But now there is this report which although it doesn't shed any light on the film festival theory does give a bit more detail as to why it is taking so long to get it into cinemas. There are also some fuzzy shots obviously taken during filming on Hawaii. It isn't very encouraging but I'm with blogger Jamie who comments on the piece:
I hope it finally gets released from whatever post production prison now holding it hostage.
